CURRICULUM VITAE

ABOUT                                                                                                                  


MIRJANÄ BÄTINIĆ is a new media artist working mainly in the medium of interactive installations, sound and video art. Central reference in her artistic practice is an exploration of spatio-temporal phenomena within which she explores subtle and invisible layers of objects or notions, distortion of perception, deconstruction, fear, aesthetics of noise and the relationship of chaos and harmony.

She holds BA in Fine Arts [University of Split, Croatia] and MA in Video and New Media Arts [University of Ljubljana, Slovenia] and is currently writing PhD thesis as part of the studies at the Department of Philosophy and Theory of Visual Culture [University of Primorska, Koper] and the Department of Philosophy [University of Malta].

She presented Croatia two times at Biennial of young artist of Europe and the Mediterranean: 2005 in Naples and 2008 in Bari, Italy. Her work Peace, 2006 is a part of collection at Casoria International Contemporary Art Museum in Naples, Italy.

In 2004 she won 1st prize for literary work, by Književni krug [Literary Circle] Karlovac, Croatia. Her prose and poetry work was published in several publications, such as Ekran priče_02 [Screen Stories_02], published by Iskon Internet & Naklada MD, Zagreb 2004; Balkanski književni glasnik [Messager littéraire balkanique / Balkan Literary Herald], editions no.7 & 8, Belgrade 2007; Da sam Šejn [If I was Shane], published by Bestseler & Konzor, Zagreb 2007.

Extensively engaged in writing, research and education. Contributed at several academic conferences and gave many public lectures and presentations. She is an author of two scientific publications.
In the year 2011 she was member of a jury at FreeNetWorld International Film Festival, organized by E-Fortress from Niš, Serbia. Between 2010 - 2012 she was member of Ljudmila: Ljubljana open-access digital media laboratory that connects artistic projects with new media technologies; in the departments of Art and Design. She is member of Croatian Association of Visual Artists - Split and Slovene digital video archive DIVA at Center for Contemporary Arts SCCA Ljubljana.

Based between Malta, Ljubljana (Slovenia) and Split (Croatia).
